The Old Market raises over £1,000 for Brighton Women's Centre
Following on from our most successful season ever, we are thrilled to announce that we have managed to raise £1,057 for the Brighton Women’s Centre through fundraising efforts during our Reigning Women season.
During the season, which ran throughout February and March, we invited customers to donate during their visit to The Old Market in exchange for a tote bag with products donated by a number of local and national companies, including The Body Shop, Lewes Football Club, Choc-Chick, Brighton Gin, Cult Hero and Infinity Foods. Performers visiting the venue also got involved by donating for a tote bag and posting about the season and the fundraising on social media, helping to raise awareness for the cause.
Brighton Women’s Centre have been supporting self-identifying women in Sussex for over 40 years. They help women from all backgrounds, facing all kinds of issues, to live happier lives.
Mark Gordon, Marketing Manager for The Old Market, says:
“We’re beyond delighted to have raised so much money for Brighton Women’s Centre. The work they do for our community is immeasurable. A massive thank you must go out to all of the artists who performed during the season, the volunteers and staff at Brighton Women’s Centre and The Old Market, but most importantly, a big thank you to everyone who visited and donated.”
Lisa Dando, Director of Brighton Women’s Centre, says:
“BWC is overwhelmed by the amount of money raised by TOM and the artists who supported the Reigning Women season. We are especially delighted to have come together as part of our International Women’s Day celebrations to mark gender equality. BWC is very dependent on the good will and generosity of our local community and we are delighted that visitors to TOM have supported us in this way.”
The Reigning Women season at The Old Market ran throughout February and March, and featured performers including Rachel Parris, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, The Hiccup Project, Jessie Cave and more. We’ve already got plans in the pipeline for Spring 2020, watch this space!
