HIRE OUR VENUE
The Old Market is not only the best place in Brighton and Hove to see a show, it’s also an excellent venue for both public and private events. Whether you’re looking to stage a performance, organise a conference or host a party, we offer a wide range of packages to suit all requirements. We’re also happy to customise a hire to your exact needs.
Our Main House is a 150-500 capacity room (depending on layout) with various seating and staging arrangement possibilities, kitted out with high spec PA and lighting. TOM’s Bar and adjoining Waterloo Room, with a combined capacity of 100, are available to hire separately, but are also included as part of most Main House hires. Your event is sure to find a great home at The Old Market, be it a performance, conference, party, wedding reception, recording or anything else you’re planning.
Our Main House holds maximum capacities of 300 theatre seated or 500 standing, each in a variety of formats. Recently refitted, the Main House features high spec sound and lighting kit, as well as a fully retractable seating rake. Flexible to your specific performance requirements, The Old Market is ideal for theatre, music, comedy, talks, showcases, cabaret or free-form events.
PARTIES AND EVENTS
The Old Market provides an ideal location for events and private parties. In addition to our excellent spaces and facilities, we are also a Grade II listed building that is bound to impress your guests. Event hires can include use of our AV equipment, technical support, drinks packages and catering provided by our trusted local suppliers, all managed by our experienced and dedicated staff team.
Your reception will take place primarily in our Main House, an impressive, large open hall which seats up to 150 for sit-down meals or more for parties. There’s also a seperate bar, small function room and entrance lobby area, all exclusively available for your use. We also offer a dedicated event manager, who will work with you through the planning process to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

TOM’S BAR & WATERLOO ROOM
Our welcoming staff serve a range of wines, draft beers, hot drinks and snacks, plus catering can be arranged with one of our excellent trusted suppliers if required. Your event will be managed by our experienced and dedicated staff team, who will also be happy to help set up anything else you need; equipment, staging, drinks packages – whatever it takes to make your event special.
REHEARSALS, FILMING AND PHOTOGRAPHY
The Old Market’s Main House is a black box 11m x 24m, with truss 5.15m above floor level. Suitable for rehearsals, video and photo shoots, all bookings cater for power supply and essential technical support. If you require further assistance, our experienced technical team can help create the setup you require. Outside of prime time, in particular, our Main House can be hired at extremely affordable rates.
