TOM POD - The Old Market Podcast!
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of TOM POD - our brand new podcast!
Every month, we’ll be chatting with handpicked guests, ranging from industry giants to emerging stars, voices from our community and our very own Team TOM members.
Hosted by the wonderful Chris Thorpe-Tracey, this new podcast series is perfect for everyone from curious listeners to regular visitors. Offering unique insights, inspiring stories, and positive perspectives, we will celebrate creativity, community, and connection as we shine a light on the people who embody TOM and the tales that deserve to be told.
The first episodes are here!
For our very first episode, we spoke with Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, the creators of the global phenomenon that is STOMP, and the owners of our very building! We talk about the Brighton & Hove arts scene, why they decided to purchase the venue, and what needs to happen for venues like ours to not just survive, but thrive.
In episode two, we have a chat with Helen Jewell (Creative Director of TOM) and Tanya Ashdown (TOM’s former Operations Manager) about the early days of TOM and what it was like to start a venue with nothing but ideas and determination.
Episode three features an interview with actor, writer and local resident Siobhan Nicholas. In this chat, we dive into Siobhan’s career as an artist, the history of the local area, and why having TOM here is vital for the community.
Then, in episode four, our own Laura Scobie (Box Office Manager) and Mark Gordon (Marketing & Comms Manager) talk about working at TOM today, the wider problems facing the sector, and what becoming a charity allows the venue to do.
For a limited time, you can listen to these episodes exclusively right here on our blog. Be amongst the first to hear it before it heads off to wider podcast platforms.
We can’t wait to share future stories with you.
