TUE 22 September LINEUP
Goya Dress were a critically acclaimed trio formed in London in the 1990s.
Comprising of Astrid Williamson, Simon Pearson and Terry de Castro, and set apart from the then burgeoning 1990s Brit Pop scene, the band inhabited an elegant, windswept alt-pop niche of their own. Signing to Nude Records (Suede, Ultrasound) in 1994, over the next five years Goya Dress recorded three EPs and one full-length album, Rooms, produced by avant-garde rock legend, John Cale (Velvet Underground) where the trio was joined by fourth member guitarist Anton Kirkpatrick. Touring extensively in the UK and Europe the band continued to record and perform until 1998.
For this show, performing as Goya Dress Acoustic, Astrid, Terry, and Anton will perform reimagined versions of Goya Dress songs to mark the 30th anniversary of the release Goya Dress's Rooms, and to honour the memory of Simon Pearson, who died in 2023.
Terry de Castro is an American musician who considers the UK her second home. She was a member of indie legends The Wedding Present and is currently a solo recording artist and performer.
Terry's music career kicked off in 1993, when she met the founder of London-based 90s band, Goya Dress, Astrid Williamson, and their musical collaboration continues to this day. Terry's album of covers by friends (A Casa Verde) and EP (You Can't Separate Light) are on The Wedding Present's Scopitones label.
She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and the love of her life: a Boston Terrier called Bea.
