What if one small black address book could unlock the hidden world behind The Beatles?
When songwriter, musician and writerGary Kemp first came across the pocket-sized address book of Beatles manager Brian Epstein, he became fascinated by the names inside. Mick Jagger. David Bailey. Artists, aristocrats, musicians, outsiders and power brokers: an entire cultural universe orbiting The Beatles at the height of their fame.
This October, Gary Kemp comes to the 5x15 stage in Brighton with filmmaker, art director and co-author Simon Halfon to discuss 1967: The World of Brian Epstein and The Beatles, their remarkable new book. Gary and Simon will be in conversation with historian, broadcaster and co-host of The Rest Is History, Tom Holland.
Together, they will explore Brian Epstein’s influence, the creative explosion of the 1960s and the extraordinary world surrounding The Beatles at the height of their fame, and why that moment continues to captivate us today.
